Q. Hi, Can you tell me where you are based?
A. We are at the Broadstone Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights meeting at 7pm.. For older juniors you are best to meet at the Oakdale Leisure Centre on a Thursday Evening at about 7pm, go through reception to the track at the back, ask for a coach who will talk through options, younger juniors (8 - 12 yrs) are best to meet at Lockyers Middle School on Saturdays at 10am.
Q. Hello I'm really interested in joining the club, are the membership fees quoted on the website monthly or annually?
A. All membership fees are annual, payable on the 1st January. For full membership this is currently £18 and associate membership it is £13. Full membership gives you Enland Athletics membership, reducing race fees at EA licenced races.
Q. I am complete novice runner and have started a mix of walking and running for 20 minutes. I would really like to be able to run. Do you have a total beginners group?
A. We have a very diverse range of runners. As a bench mark, for the seniors on a wednesday night, you should be able to run at least 3 miles in 33 minutes. You are welcome to come along if you are not upto this where we can advise you on training. You may still go out for a run, we can advise you on a short course, but you may not have any company.
Q. I've just started running competitively, my main interest if off-road and trail running. Is this something your club caters for?
A. In the summer most of our training runs are off road. Lots of our members love trail and x-country racing. Some great races we attend for the off roaders include the Beast and the Grizzly. So yes, trail and off road is definately part of the club.
Q. I am 63yrs enjoy running but not very fast am I too old to run with you?
A. NEVER! You are never too old to run with us, our oldest runner is 80 years old.
Q. I am training for the London marathon in April. I have completed two marathons previously in around 3:30 hrs. I would like to do some speed training and perhaps train with a club. Do you have any sessions which might be suitable for me. I am aiming to get inside 3:15 this time.
A. Our Thursday night sessions are for you, we are committed to a variety of training to help everyone achive thier aims, no matter if you are looking for a sub 5 hour or sub 3 hour marathon. Track sessions are run by our qualified coach who will explain the role of speed work and you will train in a group to develop your speed.
